Diversity

Solasto Group has established a Diversity Policy to advance its measures to promote diversity in terms of race, age, gender, disability and other attributes. We will strive to create a work environment in which all employees are able to understand and respect each other and participate in their work while displaying their individual characteristics and strengths, as well as contribute to a society that respects diversity.

Diversity Policy

We have established the Diversity Policy in association with the Solasto Group Code of Conduct

We will strive to create a work environment in which all employees can participate in their work while displaying their individual characteristics and strengths.

Actions

  • We respect the diversity and individuality of each individual regardless of race, age, gender, self-perceived gender, sexual orientation, disability or other attributes.
  • We will not cause discomfort to others through actions that disregard diversity, and we will prevent others from doing the same.
  • If we are impacted by, see or hear an action that makes us feel uncomfortable, we will act courageously by consulting our manager or the hotline.
  • We will not tolerate any unfair treatment of any person who has made such a report.
  • We will contribute to a society that respects diversity by applying the above both inside and outside the workplace.

Six Diversity Themes

Solasto Group currently has a large number of employees, approximately 30,000. We are promoting activities under six different diversity diversity-related themes to achieve a work environment in which all employees can participate in their work while displaying their individual characteristics and strengths.

Promoting women’s advancement in the workplace

We believe it is necessary to promote women’s active participation as they are 90% of our employees. We are aiming to become a company where women can work taking advantage of flexible workstyles and a company they feel is easy to work for. In May 2021, we received the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s Eruboshi certification which is awarded to companies promoting women’s participation and advancement in the workplace.

Supporting a healthy work-life balance
We are working to establish a system that enables employees to work while raising children or caring for their family members. We have established an action plan to support employees in their balancing of work and childcare in compliance with the Law for Promotion of Measures to Support the Development of the Next Generation. In recognition of these efforts, we have been recognized as a childcare supporting company and received the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s Kurumin certification in 2008, 2011 and 2015.
Promoting the employment of people with disabilities
We have established a special-purpose subsidiary to continuously promote the employment of people with disabilities. We also provide our expertise to our group companies to promote the employment of people with disabilities throughout the Solasto Group.
Opportunities for the elderly
We believe seniors are valuable human resources. We have approximately 3,000 employees who are over the age of 60, representing about 10% of our total workforce. We are creating an environment in which seniors can choose to continue working while utilizing their experience.
Hiring foreign workers
We have been hiring technical intern trainees since FY2019, and currently we employ trainees from Vietnam and Myanmar. We are providing all the support the trainees need to become nursing professionals in their home countries in the future.
Promoting the understanding of sexual minorities

We have established a partner system that recognizes same-sex partners (people in de facto same-sex marriages) as spouses. Under this system, employees with same-sex partners are eligible for special leave, childcare and nursing care leave, condolence money, and various other company programs.
